Editorial Photography and Design by Paul Urbanski
Story-Driven Imagery and Layouts for Publications, Brands, and Cultural Projects.
Combining editorial photography with a background in publication design I partner with magazines, creative agencies, and brands to create visual content that resonates.
Environmental & Creative Portraiture
Authentic, character-rich portraits shot in context. Focus on capturing genuine personality and narrative through controlled lighting, environment, and precise direction.
- In-studio or on-location environmental setups
- Versatile framing tailored for magazine covers, hero headers, and editorial spreads
Photo Essays & Documentary Storytelling
In-depth visual coverage for features, cultural pieces, and brand stories.
- Multi-subject and multi-location field coverage
- Cohesive color grading for unified narrative sequencing
- Tailored for digital features, print publications, and photo books

Publication & Spreads Design
Photography and typography belong together. Because I understand the mechanics of print grids, negative space, and typographic hierarchy, I design and prep editorial layouts that make the photography hit twice as hard.
- Custom magazine spread and feature layout design
- Cover design and typographic styling
- Print-ready prepress file preparation and color management

The Editorial Process
Concept & Story Brief: We outline the narrative goals, subject backgrounds, publication aesthetics, and key layout constraints (e.g., leaving space for copy or cover text).
On-Location or Studio Shoot: A focused session designed to capture the core imagery alongside key supporting details for layout flexibility.
Curated Image Selection and Post-Processing: Images are selected, sequenced, and color-graded to deliver a distinct, cohesive mood.
Layout Integration (Optional): Integrating the final imagery directly into custom print spreads or digital layout files, ready for publication.
