I’ve been here before many times before

It feels familiar any time we go, a new destination or the beaten path. This day was no different, it got darker as we pushed on.

I can’t believe the time, it’s almost six in the evening and we’re still out here. It’s not really cold but feels uncomfortable. The kids don’t mind it.

As the wind picked up, so did our walking speed. We’re about 6 blocks away from the house, it’s about 15 minute walk.

One of the kid’s jacket was buttoned up wrong, one extra hole the top and an extra button on the bottom. No one noticed except me. There is no point in addressing this issue now, it would make us stop in the middle of the park and fidget with an ill fitting jacket.

The younger one made a point by noting our current situation: We should have driven instead of walked. This was confirmed by the group.

It could have been easier, as it was Friday, the group showed fatigue, not just from the walk but from the week itself. It was hard for everyone.

It’s nothing in particular, at this time of the year, everything seems exhausting. The winter boots dragged across the sidewalk, too lazy to tighten up the laces.

We watched as the kids run into the home, the dark windows lit up with a warm orange light. The jackets came off, it got loud again.
