A road trip across the Rocky Mountains, Alberta. Images shot in the David Thompson Country (DTC) close to Noregg on highway 11.
It’s a quite empty place, especially city of Nordegg. I would not call it a city, it’s a one road town with a golf course and a church at the end.
The highway itself is a throughway to popular destination: Banff. Most stops are made on the shoulder, passers-by taking selfies next to the bright blue — almost turquoise — Abraham Lake.

The lake itself takes on different colors depending on the day. When we arrived, it looked like a tropical paradise.
The nights were nice with a westerly warm breeze. Our visit was in August, the heat during the day was unbearable. The only time once could practically go out was early in the morning or in the evening.

Highway 11 seemed like the least busiest highway in the province, especially at night. The night shots of the highway were challenging as the traffic was sparse and bugs quite common.
The DTC are is currently at the crossroads, as we’ve been told that any property or business, including the cabin we stayed in, the leases can be nullified at any time due to current plans to re-engage coal mining activities proposed by the province.
